Vicki left a comment in my previous post about the animals they have in Barrhaven (rabbits and skunks) so I figured I would treat you with another beautiful picture, this one of a barred owl (we only saw it once but what a treat that was). Yeah, I love living in the countryside.

Wow. Double Wow. Very cool. I don't believe I've actually seen an owl in person. Boy, I need to get back to nature. I think I'll be digging that mountain bike out this summer and testing out the trails. No new animal sightings here in babyhaven... Just lots of snow!
Lots of snow here too - animal tracks but none to be seen. Of course, I am still housebound because of my sprained ankle. It's got a nice purplish tinge now. Sigh.
Beautiful! I've never seen an owl in the wild.
We live within city limits, and we've got the usual urban critters (especially lots of rabbits) plus a few more unusual ones like a huge woodpecker, wild turkey, fox, and some sort of coyote/wolf hybrid (I haven't seen that one, but neighbours have).
I don't leave Jake unattended in the yard because he would make such a tasty morsel!
Tasty morsel indeed! We have seen coyote tracks, the odd rabbit, evidence of porcupine (quils on our dogs' muzzles)- oh actually we saw a porcupine in a tree as well as raccoons in a tree. A couple of herons sometimes come but they don't nest. We hear woodpeckers - they are small and active. This was our first sighting of the owl and it was during the day.
